Speeches From the Rally

Oregon Right to Life President

I want to thank all of you for coming to add your support and prayers to the pro-life cause.

Just what is the pro-life cause? Many of our detractors claim that it is really an anti-women cause. So, in the interest of clarity I want to emphatically state that our cause is the most misunderstood affirmation of peace and love that has ever existed.

We are pro life in part because we are pro-woman. It is true that we not agree that freedom means the right to kill. But we are decidedly pro woman because we affirm the equality, dignity and right to life of every woman, even those who have not yet been born. Additionally, we are in a very real sense a movement of peace because working toward peace must begin not only once people have come to an age when they can go to war. It must begin with stopping the violent assault and indeed the war against our own innocent and most vulnerable citizens, the pre-born the elderly and the infirm.

The supposedly pro-woman, pro-abortion mentality has resulted in some 50 million babies’ lives being purposely and prematurely extinguished. This has resulted in 25 million women denied the right to life, the right to grow and mature, denied the right to vote and to add their voices to those of all women. How can anything be more anti-woman than to deny female babies the right to live? How can anyone be pro-peace when they support the violent termination of the lives of others for the sake of their own convenience and comfort?

The theme for our rally is 50 million lost. The numbers are staggering. We rightly mourn all of our brave soldiers who have died in war and we honor them for their sacrifice. In fact, the sum total of all US service related deaths in all wars from the Revolutionary War until today is about 750,000. This total is just over HALF the 1.2 million babies killed each and every year in this country due to abortion.

Think about this for just a minute. Our country would have had to fight WWII for some 660 years for as many Americans to die as have been killed by abortion. More Americans are aborted in one day than have been killed in Iraq in 5 years. In order for the war in Iraq to kill as many Americans as are killed by abortion in one year it would have to continue for 2,500 years. Most amazingly, for the same number of US citizens to die in Iraq as have been extinguished by abortion since the Roe vs Wade decision, the war would have to be fought unabated for 75,000 years.

We continue to allow a true holocaust in affirming the absolute right of a woman or even an underage girl to choose. “It’s only a fetus, I don’t have time, it will be inconvenient, it will make life difficult”. In the past we have also heard: “They are only Jews, They are only Poles, or Gypsies, we’re better off without them, they’re a drag on society”. When we depersonalize the victims and rationalize the action any evil can be made palatable to a supposedly civilized society.

But, abortion is a big business as well. Planned Parenthood performs around 300,000 abortions annually. It received more than 350 million dollars last year toward a total income of over 900 million dollars. To that end, it covers up the physical and sexual abuse of underage females, increased breast cancer rates, and severe emotional trauma resulting in increased suicide rates. How can any organization that protects the perpetrators of sexual abuse of young girls and is unconcerned that post abortive women commit suicide at twice the rate of their peers claim to be pro-woman? Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, a self professed Nazi sympathizer, said this when referring to prevention of births of Blacks and Jews:

"Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race."

And, referring to blacks, she said:

"Eugenic sterilization is an urgent need ... We must prevent multiplication of this bad stock."

Just as Margaret Sanger envisioned, Planned Parenthood operates 80 percent of its clinics in minority neighborhoods. Almost as many African American children are aborted as are born. A black baby is three times more likely to be killed in the womb as a white baby. Since Roe vs Wade, abortion has reduced the black population by 25 percent of what it would have been. Twice as many African Americans have died from abortion as have died from violent crimes, heart disease, accidents and AIDS combined. Every three days more African Americans are killed by abortion than have been killed by the Ku Klux Klan in all its history.

Yet, Planned Parenthood holds a Margaret Sanger day each year, nearly elevating her to a sainthood of sorts. They present the “Maggie” (Margaret Sanger) award for promotion of their agenda by the media. Is there any other organization in America that could have so strong a following, command hundreds of millions of dollars in federal tax money and be promoted in our schools, yet be as openly and vehemently racist as this? Truth is the greatest enemy of Planned Parenthood and organizations like them and truth is our greatest ally.

Are we better off? Are families stronger? Are children emotionally healthier and happier? The answer is no. We need social workers, psychiatrists and metal detectors in our schools because in pursuing the false god of absolute personal freedom we have neglected to teach our children impulse control and respect for others. We teach our children that it’s OK to deny the right to life of a baby and then wonder how it is possible for a tragedy such as Columbine to occur. If we taught our children that every human life is sacred those kids at Columbine would not have felt it was their right to choose. It is the pinnacle of ignorance that we can expect kids to understand that killing someone they don’t like is wrong, but killing someone who may be inconvenient is OK. This is the soil in which Columbine and other incidents like it grew, and continues to grow.

We in the pro-life community promote the love for and respect of all persons as equals, embracing people of all races, religions, ages and infirmities. We promote human rights for all, the first among those rights being the right to life. We will continue to stand for the right of every pre-born person to have the blessings and joys of life, as well as their right to experience the tribulations and difficulties of life. We will continue to stand firmly against the prevailing culture of convenience and death. No other cause is as pro-woman, anti-racist and peace loving as this. Thank you and God Bless our Pre Born.
